December 15th journal entry
Over the past couple of weeks I have been hearing all about this oil spill in the gulf. Along with all the things they are trying to do to stop the oil from going everywhere they are also trying to figure out who’s fault it is. Here is what I think, first of all it’s more then one persons jobs fault. There is the people who tested the cemented, that was supposed to keep everything together, even though it failed 2 out of the 3 times they went along with it anyways and now look at where we are!! Also you could blame the actual workers who are working right with the machines. We all would think that they had been trained good and enough that they could tell when something was going wrong, but if you are going to blame the actual worker you would have to put a little blame on the people that trained them! Maybe they weren’t fit to be trainers? The list could go on and on. One person I think should not be blamed is the CEO of BP. It isn’t his fault that this happened he probably had no idea that the cement failed all her probably knew is that they were continuing to go along with this plan. So I think people need to stop blaming everything on him! As for how there punishment I think that they need to be fired or go through training to make sure this never happens again.
Coal: What is is made of?? How is it formed??
Coal is a fossil fuel and most of our coal was formed when most of the earth was covered in swamps, 300 million years ago. As plants and animals started to die there remains sank to the bottom of the swampy areas and they started to layer on top of each other this soon made a material called peat and after awhile all the layers started to get packed together more and it made coal!! Coal is mostly made of carbon, along with some sulfur, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen.

True and not true Dante's Peak
True:
*It is true that scientists can test the water in lakes near on the volcano to look for gasses that could point to a soon eruption
* It is true that lava can break through hot springs
* You can tell that an eruption might happen when carbon dioxide trees and animals start to die in the forests near the volcano like the scientist were talking about in the movie.
Untrue:
* It would be almost impossible for the truck drive over the bridge while the lahar was so close
* They wouldn't be able to out drive the pyroclastic cloud, because its too fast.
* Dante's Peak is not a real volcano

The second picture I used is an some sort of animal footprint. This is an example of a mold and casts fossil. This type of fossil there is no actual bone or replacements of a bone it's when something might have been walking or something and it left such an imprint that once other rock layers formed over it. It was still there. These types of fossil help scientists to see what some animals feet look like.
